Newton teachers reach tentative agreement after 11-day strike
The 11-day teachers strike in Newton, Massachusetts, has ended after the union and school district reached a tentative agreement on a new contract.
The strike affected 2,000 instructors and 12,000 students, and was the sixth teachers strike in the state since 2022 and the longest, closing schools for 11 days. [ more ]
Cal State faculty reaches tentative deal for more pay, will end strike on 23 campuses
Nearly 30,000 workers in the California State University system have reached a tentative contract agreement and will end their strike.
The agreement includes a 5% pay raise retroactive to last year and another 5% raise on July 1, as well as an increase in the minimum wage for the lowest-paid faculty. [ more ]

The tentative contract agreement between General Motors and the United Auto Workers union is likely to be defeated.
Workers at five large factories have already voted against the deal by significant margins.
The union's website shows the deal winning by 686 votes, but this does not include votes from several plants that have also voted against the agreement. [ more ]
